6 Port Types

  • Port Types:

It refers to a maritime facility that may have one or more wharves where ships may dock to load and or discharge passengers and or cargo.

Therefore, it calls seaports, which is the main types:

    • Seaports:

Used for commercial shipping activities, cargo or passenger, powder, and cruise travel.

    • Inland ports:

Mostly such as lakes or rivers.

    • Warm water ports:

These types of ports do not freeze in water and operate year-round. I.E. Alaska’s Valdez Port.

    • Dry ports:

These ports are considered inland terminals connected by larger seaports through road and or rail facilities.

    • Fishing port:

This type is used for landing and distributing fish.
